![]() The Howard County Education Association (HCEA), representing over 6,000 educators, has endorsed Liz Walsh for County Council District 1. HCEA members want to know the candidates who best understand what is happening in our schools today and who are ready to work with parents and educators to solve challenges. We know the value of working in campaigns to ensure educators elect candidates who value Howard County’s strong public school system and its staff.
The People's Voice![]() "The People's Voice is pleased to announce endorsement of Liz Walsh for Howard County Council in District 1, to the Ethics Ballot. Liz is a strong environmental supporter. She has also been a dedicated community voice for improving County services, such as the school system, transportation, and health and safety provisions. Her work on slowing county development growth to enable these protections has involved her in the work of the Council for years. Liz's educational background is in civil engineering, which provided her with analytical skills and an informed background for the infrastructure changes needing to be reviewed in the coming years. She is an attorney, whose advocacy training and specific knowledge of the construction field will be very useful in the new Council's continued job of rewriting the zoning regulations."

![]() "The MD Chapter of the Sierra Club formally endorses Liz Walsh for her pledge to support an environmental agenda in the Howard County Council. With our current President supporting rollbacks of clean water and air regulations, and denying climate change, it is important for local county councils across the state to stand strong for these protections. We appreciate her support more than ever."
African Americans in Howard County![]() "When we think about transparency, we think of Ms. Walsh..." YES!!!
What an honor to earn this endorsement of the African Americans in Howard County (AAIHC), sister group of the African American Coalition of Howard County (AACHC). And what good company I have. Read the full endorsement. Mobilize HoCo![]() "Mobilize Leadership fully endorses Democratic Candidate Liz Walsh for her focus on controlling new development, protecting our schools, and serving the public good. Liz was not a declared candidate during the APFO deliberations but she has a strong history as a community activist in consistently advocating for stronger development regulations that protect our environment and fund the necessary infrastructure needs of a growing population. Based on direct experience with this candidate, we believe that she will represent our schools, infrastructure and be diligent in the important zoning rewrite that will be happening in the next County Council term."

“I have been a Republican and working in politics my entire adult life. We need to restore trust back to government and choose quality people to hold elected office. Liz Walsh not taking developer money highlights whose side she is on. Not the Democrats' side, or the Republicans' side, but the PEOPLES' side. Liz wants to solve the problems of flooding, school overcrowding, and restore the power back to the people of Howard County. I have interviewed both candidates for District One and I wholeheartedly support and endorse Liz Walsh!”

"Liz Walsh will speak powerfully in support of environment and historic preservation issues. Today, more than ever, we must have strong, data-driven solutions to the ever-increasing threat of floods caused by severe weather events and inadequate stormwater infrastructure. I know from her strong history of advocacy and her engineering background that we can depend on Liz to find solutions that protect the Patapsco watershed, the historic towns of Ellicott City and Elkridge and our surrounding communities."

What District 1 Residents Are Saying

"I’m voting for Liz because she’s a breath of fresh air. Not only is she competent and has the skills our county needs at this critical time, she’s genuine and responsive. She’s also inspired me to get more involved in environmental efforts in my neighborhood."

"I have lived in Elkridge for 5 decades and, in that time, Liz is the most qualified person I have seen run for office in District 1. It only takes one meeting with her, to know how much she cares about Elkridge and all of D1. She is smart and down-to-earth. That's a rare combination. Liz cares about quality of life issues and our schools. She really means it when she says "Constituents are my special interest."

"I am voting for Liz Walsh because she has the right skill set as a civil engineer and attorney to tackle the tough issues facing our county. She’s been speaking out about development on the hills above Old Ellicott City in the Tiber-Hudson watershed for years. She questions why Howard County APFO laws are not as strong as neighboring counties, and why we charge far less in developer impact fees that could enable Howard County to build schools, desperately needed, where students currently live. She’s down to earth and thoughtfully listens to concerns of residents. Lastly, and possibly most important – Liz Walsh is a person of strong integrity who has run a positive campaign based on the issues."

"As an Elkridge Main Street resident, I am voting for Liz Walsh! I am so thankful that she decided to enter this race. Like us here in Elkridge, Liz had met the same challenges of having local government not hear nor meet the needs of the community and environment in her Old Ellicott City neighborhood. Liz has already shown she is committed to helping those of us in Elkridge get a seat at the table. She has been at our side at several pre-submission and planning/zoning board meetings. She has testified and asked the hard questions to advocate for solutions to overcrowding in Elkridge in all aspects: our lack of proper infrastructure, overcrowded schools and safety of Rt.1. She has also stood with us on the revitalization plans for Rt. 1. #WalshForOne! District 1 and Route 1 needs her representation!" - Laura, Elkridge

"I voted for Liz because I have been inspired by her grassroots support (no developer $!) and impressed by her informed, analytical answers to issues facing our community. Whether it’s been watching her testify at the council or answer questions from voters, she truly understands the complex needs of our community. There is just no comparison, the choice is so clear, we are all in for Liz! Walsh for One!"

"I voted for Liz because she knows her stuff. I like her background as an attorney and engineer, and I appreciate her knowledge and perspective about a number of issues that are important for D1 and Howard County - whether it's about education, the environment, or development. She's ready to roll up her sleeves and work collaboratively to find solutions that will benefit our community. Take a look at the issues she's supporting and her testimony in her blog - and if you have any questions, reach out and she'll be in touch with you. As she always says, constituents are her special interest!"
